Breaking the Nice: The Hidden Rage of Nice People And Their Snapping!
Everybody has their breaking point, and even the most pleasant individuals can reach a moment of frustration, and it can result in something astonishing as well as frightening. Some Redditors share their experiences of nice people who finally stood up for themselves, demonstrating that even the most gentle souls have their limits. Read on to know more about them:
1. Asked To Do The Most Unthinkable
Once I worked with a lady named Mary. She used to always be happy, greet everyone in the cafeteria and was liked by all generally. For the past 15 years she had been working on finance for special jobs and willed to retire soon. Our boss wanted her to wind up and finish making the yearly budget report faster but it was huge. Mary said it would take her a few weeks to finish it, just as she did usually but the boss was persistent about having it ready within a week for upper management.
Mary declined and that's when the boss made a mistake by sending her an email along with others in our team and some assistant managers by calling her out to be lazy and it made us look bad. Mary stood by what she said and told it was practically not possible for her to make it any quicker and she did not appreciate being made a scapegoat.
She immediately decided to retire right then and having the boss left with nobody to finish the task at hand. She was also someone who could handle the budget report well—so our department was in deep trouble. Good on her, though.
2. No Value Of The Favorite Teacher
Back when I was in 5th grade, I got lucky in having the most loved teacher in the school but the class I was in was extremely mischievous. Once before physical education, she gave us an assignment and would not let anybody leave until they were done. The slowpoke that I was, I ended up being one of the last kids in the room. And then there was this total pest of a kid, the worst of the lot.
My teacher snapped and covered her ears while shouting, 'ENOUGH! QUIET! NOW! SHUT! THE F! UP!' and walked out while screaming, leaving all of us in a shock. Some kids snuck out for physical education when I stayed back to finish the assignment.
10 minutes later, our principal came into the class and sent some kids for physical education and kept Mr. Annoying back. Later, he was moved to a different 5th grade class. Our educator came back and everything was back to normal. The entire year went on without any hiccups for the entire year and she worked super hard to be amazing. But I can't deny, that day left its memory with me forever.
3. Unpleasant Music
Once there was a music teacher who completely lost it and some students joined the music lessons class to skip other lessons and she was too gentle for our tough school—she just couldn't handle the students. One day, she was crying during her mid-week class at her desk. After some time, our principal came into the class and scolded us big time. Despite that, our music teacher did not return.
4. Wasn’t Worth The Inconvenience
Once I worked as a tech support in a call center firm and was going through some issues. There was a chilled out guy from my training class who was usually quiet and spoken if spoken to. Once after we finished training, the bosses changed loads of things in our work. They added up the pressure upon us to wind up our paperwork and finish our research and meet better metrics.
What was not fair was that whosoever were the bosses favorites were allowed to take as many as breaks they wanted but we would have to pay the price to keep up our average stats. The kind guy I spoke about did everything right—talked to his boss, their boss, HR, but it only got worse, and they made him work overtime.
That kind guy who once stuck on a long call which was difficult because the customer was quite mean and his bosses would not permit him to end the call and yelled at him to resolve the issue and move to another one. In addition to all of that, we couldn't hang up, only the customer could.
All of a sudden, the kind guy got up and climbed up the desk while throwing his headset and whispered something like, 'Screw this.' He looked around at everyone, especially those who took long breaks and the bosses and left.
Nobody saw him after that again. We sat there in silence as we were quite scared to even move. I've got to confess that it is the most epic exit.
5. Wasn’t Something To Even Joke About
Unfortunately, my friend's mother died months before our sophomore year but come what may, he managed to pull it all together for school and despite being an only child with no dad. His mother meant the world to him.
However there was a kid who thought it was cool just pissed everyone and cracked heartless jokes about his mother passing away. I don't remember what it was exactly but I remember that my buddy lost it.
My friend pushed him down and punched him in the face continuously while ending up breaking that kid's nose and fracturing his left eye socket. He also was rusticated from the school. We were glad he'd set the kid straight, but it was a HUGE price to pay.
6. He Was Put Right In His Place
Once there was an assistant manager who was quite a sweet talker and once during a meeting, one of the head-honchos—a grade A idiot—suggested that all stores should follow his management style.
Suddenly the assistant manager came out with, "Your store has the worst staff retention rate, buddy. You can't seem to keep anyone around for more than six months. They all blame you. Maybe try following your own 'tips' for a change."
However, a few days later she quit a job and the manager she fell for was shipped off to another spot outside the district. His old store bounced back and is now doing really well.
7. A Star Performer
One of my friends named Darrell, is quite a big guy who does not cause any issues and is giant like —6 '5", 250 lbs, and he's loved by everyone at school since he plays football.
Nonetheless, one day during the Spanish class, the clown class was doing his usual thing, insulting people, talking loudly. He also pointed out a girl, Nelly. He insulted her pretty badly, making a nasty comment about a birthmark on her neck.
Everyone was sad and wanted to give him a piece of their own minds however, Darrel got up and went over to the guy and lifted him up by his far. He also said clearly that, 'If you do not zip it now, I'm gonna slam you into that wall.' He then pointed at the closest wall.
He let the clown down and went back to his own business. However, the clown did not relax which was a huge mistake. He swung his elbow and sent him flying and lifted him by the shoulder and punched a hole in the drywall near the pest's head.
Of course, this caused the attention of the security and both Darrel and the clown ended up getting arrested. Thankfully, they only got minor fines for the damages. I'm still impressed by the patched up hole in the wall. It is an evident reminder of the incidental day.
8. Annoyance And The Adrenaline Rush
When I was in middle school, I had a friend whom we can call Bob. He was very short compared to others where he would be half-a-foot less than the average five feet. Despite his small build, Bob was great as he loved to learn and play video games. In addition, he was also a really cool guy to hang around with.
But here's when the plot twist shifts, when in the gym class. Our gym teacher was an absolute pain because he had a weird habit of assigning ridiculous nicknames and basically talking down to us all the time, instead of boosting our morale.
Once this stupid teacher passed a comment on Bob's mother. To give you guys context, she had fibromyalgia and other health problems, clearly struggling but definitely not by choice. Something just switched within Bob that day and despite his height, he stood up to our six-foot tall gym teacher and boy, that guy didn't stand a chance against furious Bob.
Fortunately, the two were pulled apart before things could escalate. However, the fallout was that he had to switch schools while the nasty gym teacher got what he deserved—he was fired for his terrible behavior.
9. Immediately Feeling Contrite
During my big brothers' wedding, things got really crazy. He is a great man and sometimes too great but his ex-girlfriend was awful. He loved her, despite her telling him he was worthless. She demanded an expensive ring and a wedding and yes it happened.
The entire situation was high stress and she was worse than normal. She also wanted the biggest piece of the wedding cake, leaving none for him and had the guts to tell him to diet, even though he was on the skinny side.
10. That is when he LOST IT!
He immediately smacked her with the cake on her dress and spoke about the divorce. He opened up about how she pushed him into depression. He's much happier now, though. They cut ties and live continents apart.
11. A Grand Wedding
Once a woman finished things with her husband... at her own wedding. She knew somebody my friend's mother was friends with. That bride had a close friend who was broke and when it came to the wedding gift but most of the people gave cash. But her friend did not have the funds, so she gifted her friends an art piece. Although it was not pricey, it was a heartfelt gift.
The bride dug it, but her hubby was a straight-up snob. He just laughed at the gift, and even bad-mouthed the friend to his and her folks, calling her too broke.
That is when things went wild. The bride had enough—she headed to their packed reception, grabbed the mic, called it quits on their marriage right then and there, and stormed off. Not forgetting THAT night any time soon.
12. Breakfast From Floor
In my high school, there were a bunch of 6 friends and we were having breakfast while other girls threw food our way and aimed especially towards M's unique spiky hair. Out of the blue, my typically chill friend K just flipped.
When one of the girls tossed an egg patty that landed near K, she stepped on it, picked it up, walked to their table, and stuffed it into the culprit's mouth!
This is a memory so core that stands out for me from high school. K's reaction was totally unexpected. She faced consequences, but she had zero regrets.
13. At Least Think About The Fairness
An ex-colleague of mine, a woman, endured constant abuse from an older coworker named Tom. The company didn't do anything about it. He also stalks her home, leaving her no choice but to move. He went a level above by purchasing a house next door to hers.
That is when she snapped back because it was insane: she walked to work with a baseball bat, asking reception if Tom was around. When asked why, she simply stated that she was there to kill him.
As the receptionist warned Tom, he fled away taking all her frustration out on the office instead. The cops didn't charge her when they arrived. It was understood that her threat was a plea for help. Just as well they'd warned Tom—if she had found him, she would have made good on her threat.
After taking a break for a while, she was back to work. But you know what the worst part was? Their company fell so short of their duty of protection that they put her on the same project as Tom...with him as her manager. That's absolutely NUTS!
14. The Bible Strike
I had a friend named W. She was extremely nice but also shy and did not swear. The most important fact was that she is a Christian and I am a part of the LGBT+ community. We've been thick as thieves for 10 years and our differences have never been a problem. This one time, her now ex-boyfriend was being a right pain, going on about the Bible and how he sees it.
Saying that his point of view is the only truth, it is 'clear as day in the scripture.' He also had the guts to tell her to ignore my views being LGBT since it's 'against the Bible.'
I was present witnessing the entire thing taking the hard shots and fuming from within but I decided to keep it together for W's sake. She hates it when she is told that she is wrong but she was ready to let it go.
The moment he insulted me, I knew he'd fallen from grace. That's when I saw this fierce look cross W's eyes. She stared at him down and told, 'Think what you want about what I think. Everyone's entitled to their own beliefs.'
She then got up from her seat, got up over her ex who was seated and said, 'But mess with my friends, and that is it. We are over you idiot!.' I couldn't have been more proud of her that day!
15. Video Games NOT ALLOWED!
I will always remember my memory of when our chilled out librarian snapped. She was always sweet, cool and made one feel great even if one is shy. However, there was this one kid gaming inside the library which is absolutely a no zone. Despite her continuously asking him to shut down the game, he did not care a bit.
This is when she lost her calmness and it really laid into him. She went on to say, 'You think I can't get mad? Well, look at me now! I am MAD! MAD at you! Get lost!'
16. The Price You Pay For Ignoring My Bestie
Me and my best friend observed that our bunch of friends always seemed to ignore her. They acted like she was just part of the package because she was my BFF. Being the teens we were, I did not want our group to be in shambles so I stayed mum and then went like, 'Isn't it a bummer when Bestie talks and nobody engages?' Some agreed that it was wrong but claimed they were at a loss for words.
After a few minutes, my best friend was furious and when she was talking another friend confessed to not paying attention and she lost her temper. 'That's the damn issue, you never listen to me!', she yelled.
The best part was watching the others scramble to defend themselves. I called them out, reminding them of past conversations when they'd agreed they were ignoring her and questioning their sudden lies.
They obviously didn't take it well and did not appreciate it a bit. They were fuming at me and my best friend for being 'real.' But things are good now because we found friends who genuinely care for my bestie and reciprocate her attention.
17. That Is A Huge Problem
My boss called for a meeting and went in to talk about boosting sales and telling all of us to do whatever it takes to make it happen. One of our laid back salesmen reverted with, 'Well, that's our issue here. Neither of us cares,' then walked out being as cool as a cucumber.
18. Don’t Mess This Up
Once I worked at a university in Virginia doing research in a cardiac MRI lab under the main boss, or what I usually called her, the boss lady. In the lab, we had almost 30 patients and it was difficult for us to understand what we were doing. Any mess that is repeated, would mess up a month's worth of work.
The boss lady, she is a gem who is also super smart, really sweet and patient too. She never had any problem with her but things got shaky when she got a new girl on board. This new girl would nod even when she did not know what was happening and it was a charade.
Then the newbie gave the boss lady our spreadsheet and the stats were all messed up somewhere along the line. It was a HUGE facepalm moment, really. The boss lady, trying to keep her cool, picked through the errors. I've never seen her this way, it was scary. Despite trying to keep calm, her anger was seeping out. Now, it's been weeks since I've seen this new girl, which makes me think something's gone down.
19. This Is What I Would Do
My friend is the one the sweetest person you would know to always help when you are down. She is super chill and never fights and talks things out when she usually disagrees with somebody. Once, we had to run for a mile to school and though she isn't a sports person, she finished the mile in 11 minutes.
Everyone was cool, except this track jock who began teasing her. She was having a tough day already, so didn't need this. She confronted him saying, 'Don't be a jerk, nobody is perfect at everything.' He continued to be mean, even making fun of her accent.
It's one of those firsts where a guy was pissing her off. She would usually handle the incident respectfully but he didn't understand. She stood her ground and told him, 'I will do this.' The shock on his face when it happened was priceless.
However, the principal understood why she did what she did because he knew this guy could be a real pain.
She would apologize and now is genuinely afraid of her.
20. Football Champ V/S The Ex
My ex was a chill person and we split up during our junior year of high school while still having feelings for each other still. I was new to the school and he was the only one I knew. Everyone trusted him with everything and loved him a lot. He was so knowledgeable he could've taught some of our classes.
I sat beside a cocky football star during math who kept bothering me. He would usually touch me and that would make me uncomfortable. Once, he crossed the line of making inappropriate comments about me. Suddenly my ex showed up and looked down at the football star telling him, 'Don't talk about her like that.'
People couldn't stop chatting about how my ex looked like he was about to explode. There was this weird energy in the room and it was so quiet that one could even hear the pin drop.
I never saw my ex show any signs of aggression who was usually non-confrontational. The school let me switch seats to be next to my ex and I never had to deal with that harassment again.
21. Discarding Huge Trash
My boss usually would not curse as he was a mellow kind of a man. He also had a problem where—our store was losing dough for months. SO it happened that people forgot a whole U-boat of frozen goods in a warm backroom. My boss went like, 'What is this?' Then we opened it and screamed, 'Are you effing serious!? Who left this here!?'
I never saw him so furious and angry or even cursed. He called for security right away and asked them to note the camera he was under, and mentioned he'd review the footage later. He chilled later, but someone definitely got kicked out the next day.
22. A Session On Boundaries
I had a friend who was shy so let us call her T. She had a friend who was G and someone who always ran over her. G always would be a part of bizarre things and sit on T's lap during Chemistry or tell her bad things while T would let it happen.
We, stupid teens never checked with T if she was even comfortable with all of this and one day during lunch, G crossed a line by circling the table and irritating T by touching her head and swatting her. T kept telling her to quit, but G didn't listen.
All of a sudden, T lost her cool and burst out from her seat, furious and screamed, 'When I say stop touching me, STOP TOUCHING ME!' Everyone was quiet and were shocked to see quiet T lose her temper.
I guess she had reached her limit. After that, G never messed with T again.
23. What A Waste Of Time
When he was on a technical phone interview and towards the end of the call he banged the phone so badly that I thought he broke it. I also heard him whisper, 'What an idiotic waste of time.' We were all surprised!
24. Corporal Penalizing
When I was in 6th grade, this incident took place when I was heading towards the washroom and saw Mrs. Brown hit my friend who was having a tough time at home. I decided to interfere and bravely informed her that I was taking my friend to the office and could not stop me.
I took my friend with me to the principal's office, bypassing the startled secretary. The principal was on the call. I pointed to my friend's marked face and told her to end the call. She did.
I clearly said that she had to call his mother and then the cops if not I would. The look on her face said. The cherry on the cake was watching Mrs. Brown being escorted away in handcuffs by the police. I didn't feel a bit sorry. I've never been scared to speak up when something's not right. Except for that, I try to be friendly with everyone I meet.
25. Revealing The Other Side
My girlfriend is really a sweet and nice person and I was shocked when her ex caused the drama. On the very day we got together, he posted all their personal things on his Instagram story saying how our relationship would not last. My girl was sobbing when she saw and what was the icing on the cake was he did that while they were dating.
Surprisingly, we bumped into her ex after the first period and he said how dumb we look while holding our hands. That did it- my girlfriend lost it. She confronted her about the Instagram post, nearly crying as she mentioned all the crap her ex pulled during their relationship. But she stood her ground. I've never seen my girl that mad; it's the first and only time I've seen her like that.
26. Too Loud
When I was in middle school, I had a super cool teacher who was great at handling issues. But once, while I was in my reading class, clear across the school, I heard a loud, 'Why did you do that?'
It was my teacher—no joke. It was hard to believe because she was usually so chill. Some troublemakers from the class pushed her a bit far by flipping a pencil right in front of her. Guess that was the last straw.
27. Are You Certain About That?
When I was in my senior year during my English class a nicest kid shared my desk space for 3 years had his limits pushed by this tool. This guy thought he was funny to joke about hooking up with the nice kid's sister. He did not know she was just 5 years old.
Well, the nice kid got the perfect payback without throwing a punch. Towards the end, he was reminded of the class of the tool bag's comment and you can agree how awkward that can be.
As soon as he headed towards his seat, the nice kid got him back. He grabbed the guy by the head and slammed him on the desk.
Once, our teacher sent the guy to the nurse, and made sure he'd be spending time in In-School Suspension afterward. The nice kid? He got off scot-free. Everyone was on his side.
After a while, the tool got expelled for using drugs. Meanwhile, the nice kid graduated as valedictorian. Speaking about KARMA.
28. Band Practice
During the band practice a few days back, a senior clarinetist ragged on me hard about a mistake I made with the squad arrangement and he had an overbearing tone I did not appreciate. Despite being a sophomore, I stood my ground, saying 'Hey, I am not fond of your vibe. I am not dumb–everyone screws up.'
I went on, 'You might be a senior and I'm a sophomore, but if I'm not getting respect, don't expect any from me. Period. Now, move over and let me deal with this.' He shut the shop and kept his thoughts to himself for the entire long rehearsal. Turns out that he would always be this way as per my girlfriend who went along with him. If you ask me my opinion, I'd say, 'Man, what a pain in the neck.'
29. Educating The Boyfriend
I had a bunch of relatives, aunts and uncles who were all totally awesome. Once, there was a time where one of my aunty was dating who was a big bad egg. When my uncles found out that he was hurting their sister, they headed to his place, dragged him out, and threw him in the back of their car. They drove him to some middle-of-nowhere spot and they left him there. No clue what ended up happening to the guy.
During my middle school days, the students were just something else—they've got the power to wear down anyone including the teachers. Once there was a nun who came in as a sub who had a bit of an embarrassing fart situation. After that, the kids annoyingly dubbed her 'the flying nun' and who knows what else.
She made an attempt to pull the control by acting really tough and she did not have the guts for it. Last time I ever saw her was when she hid her face in her hands and walked out of the classroom, poor lady.
30. Don’t Utter Her Name From Your Mouth
The guy in my college called T pulled me into an argument happening between his friends and my pals on WhatsApp. That idiot threw in all the nasty names towards me and all of this with about 120 classmates witnessing it in the chat. While sitting in the dorm and reading those comments about myself, it stopped suddenly and I had no idea why but when I found out the truth, I could not help but smirk.
My friend N confronted T and asked him to apologize and delete the messages but T did not back down so N socked him up which caused T's face to come down and turn red. There were cops involved but N got away with it and a warning. N is one of the nicest dudes I know because he loves to avoid drama in general and is super considerate.
That man is epic scary when he is mad. I have never seen him like that, just twice in 4 years. He is definitely not someone to mess with.
