Something Wasn’t Right
Ashton was concerned about his mother. For the last few weeks, she had been refusing to sleep in her bedroom in the nursing home. He could tell that whatever was going on was taking a toll on her, so he decided to plant the camera.
But when he went to plant the camera in the old woman’s room, he witnessed something truly concerning. He couldn’t let the nursing home staff get away with this.
He Had To Help Her
Ashton had always wanted what was best for his mother, but she had been refusing to sleep in her bedroom. He could see the exhaustion behind her eyes. He tried to be gentle with her. “Mom, you have to get some sleep,” he said, but she wouldn’t listen.
“I will not sleep in that awful place,” she said. “ You can take me to your house. I will sleep there.” He did what he had to to help his mother.
Her Suggestion
While his mother slept in the guest room that night, he couldn’t help but wonder what was going on. Why wouldn’t she sleep in the nursing home? She refused to tell him. But once he opened up to his wife about the situation, she gave him an idea.
“You could always go over there tomorrow and have a camera installed. Maybe things aren’t as good as they seem in that nursing home,” She said.
She Had A Plan
Ashton didn’t know if it was a good idea to install a camera in his mother’s bedroom, but he was starting to think that it was necessary. “If you want, I can distract your mother while you install it. It’s the only way to see what’s going on behind closed doors,” his wife, Mei, suggested.
He couldn’t believe that he was about to agree to his wife’s offer. The next morning, he went out to a local store and bought a small camera.
Going Back
Ashton could see the sadness behind his mother’s eyes when he informed her that he would be taking her back to the nursing home. She had slept for more than 12 hours the night before but still seemed tired.
Mei hid the camera in her purse as they got into Ashton’s truck and began driving to the nursing home. Mei could see the pain behind Judith’s eyes.
Could He Trust Them?
When they reached the nursing home, they went straight to Judith’s room. The staff greeted them with kind smiles, just like every other time. But were they as nice as they seemed? Ashton had a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach. He didn’t know if he could trust them
Judith didn’t say a word as she placed her overnight bag on the bed, her eyes filled with sadness. “Mom,” Mei spoke up, just as they had planned. “Why don’t we go make some coffee.” This was Ashton’s opportunity.
Acting Fast
As soon as they left the room, Ashton reached for Mei’s bag and grabbed the small camera. He had to be quick. He looked for the best spot to install the camera when he noticed the fake pot plant in the corner of the room.
He rushed toward it, planting the camera perfectly. But just as he thought he’d gotten away with it, he heard the door open behind him. But he was not ready for what was about to happen.
A Wife And Mother
Judith Mayer always strived to be the best wife and mother she could possibly be. She and her husband owned a small home in Alberta. Through the years, they raised their children, Ashton and Bethany, to the best of their ability. They moved out far too soon for Judith’s liking.
But as the woman grew older, she remained close to her children while she lived with her husband, Allan, in the home they bought when they first got married.
The Apple Of Her Eye
Ashton, her eldest child, was the apple of his mother’s eye. He had always been a straight-A student, and after college, he married a wonderful woman. Her name was Mei, and Judith loved her like she was her own. Judith’s life was perfect from the outside but even more perfect on the inside.
But when she was just 65 years old, the unexpected happened. Allan suddenly fell sick with a mysterious illness.
Praying For A Miracle
For months, Judith, her son, and her daughter were in and out of the hospital, visiting the old man. Judith was praying for a miracle, but things weren’t looking good. Ashton was there to hold his mother’s hand when the doctor delivered the heartbreaking news. “He only has a few hours left. You are welcome to stay with him.”
That night, the small family sat around the old man, holding hands and praying together until he took his last breath. Judith’s perfect world now had a massive crack.
Tragedy
For the first few months after Allan’s devastating death, Judith lived with Ashton and Mei in their two-bedroom house. But before long, Mei received exciting news. They were expecting their first child. “You will need to use the second bedroom as a nursery,” Judith said.
“But where would you stay?” Ashton questioned. “We can get a bigger place, mom.” But Judith wasn’t having it. She had a plan.
She Had A Plan
You see, her plan was never to stay with her son for too long. She knew that he and Mei needed their alone time. She had done research in recent months. “There is this wonderful nursing home just up the road. Some friends from church have moved in there. I want to go,” Judith had made up her mind.
Ashton didn’t feel good about it, but he knew better than to go against his mother’s wishes. They decided to check the place out.
A Beautiful Place
It was stunning from the outside with its tall walls and gray paint. There was a lovely garden where Judith could read her books every day. The older woman seemed completely enamored by the beautiful place. “Yes, I want to stay here,” she said after meeting the staff.
The place was so amazing. It seemed too good to be true. And it was. Judith would learn this the hard way a few weeks later.
Confirmation
As soon as Judith confirmed that this was where she wanted to stay, Ashton helped her get in. They packed up all of her things in no time. The day he drove her to the nursing home was one of the most exciting days of her life. She seemed truly happy when he drove away.
“It was wonderful,” Ashton told his wife that evening. “The staff were really welcoming, and she seemed really excited to be there. I’m happy for her.” But soon, he wouldn’t be.
Phone Calls
The first few days, Ashton called his mother every single day to ensure that she was adjusting well. But one day, she said something strange. “Yes, I’m fine, thank you,” she started, “I’m just having trouble sleeping,” she revealed. But Ashton didn’t think much of this.
“It’s probably just because you’re still adjusting, Mom. Give it a few days,” he assured her. But he could hear the uncertainty in her voice. If only he knew the truth.
She Didn’t Answer
When Ashton tried to call the following day, Judith didn’t answer. He assumed she was just busy or not in the mood to talk. But when she didn’t answer his phone call for an entire week, he decided to pay her a visit. Mei decided to tag along.
The pair drove down the road toward where they thought Judith was happily living. Little did they know that they would stumble upon a disturbing sight.
She Looked Terrible
When they arrived at the nursing home, everything seemed perfect as usual. The garden was done beautifully, and the staff greeted them with smiles. But when they stepped into the general area, they instantly spotted Judith. Mei gasped. The old woman looked terrible as if she hadn’t slept in days.
Ashton’s heart dropped as he quickly approached his mother. When she spotted him, she couldn’t even muster up the courage to smile.
She Was Tired
Ashton got on his knees beside his mother’s hair and reached for her hand. “Mom, are you okay?” he asked. Judith’s hair was a mess. Her eyes were bloodshot with dark rings around them. She looked beyond ill. But then, she said something. “I am so tired,” she said.
That was when tears spilled down the old woman’s cheeks. Ashton and Mei were mortified as they lifted her from the chair. “Let’s get you to bed, Mom.”
She Refused
But as soon as Ashton began trying to walk his mother to her bedroom, she stopped in her tracks and refused to walk any further. “Mom?” The old woman shook her head. “No, I will not sleep in that room. I refuse,” Judith said. This worried Ashton greatly.
“Why?” he asked, but she refused to give him an answer. Something sinister was at play, and she couldn’t talk about it.
They Left
Ashton asked the staff if there was another bed that the older woman could sleep on, but they refused, stating that all beds were in use. “You should go. I will be fine,” the old woman insisted. But they didn’t want to leave her in this state. But she begged them to leave.
When Ashton and Mei left, they felt terrible. They were only hoping that she would get some sleep that night. They returned the next day.
The Cycle Continued
But when the same thing happened, Ashton knew he had to do something about this. His mother hadn’t slept in days. “Mom, you have to get some sleep,” he said, trying his best to help the woman who raised him. But she wouldn’t have it.
“I told you. I’m not sleeping in this place. You can take me to your house. I will sleep there,” Judith said. Ashton did what he had to to help his mother.
Wanting A Solution
That night, Ashton and Mei took the old woman to their house. As soon as they arrived, Judith collapsed over the guest bed. She didn’t even eat or shower. That was how exhausted she was. That night, Ashton expressed how worried he was about his mother. Mei listened closely.
“You could always go over there tomorrow and have a camera installed. Maybe things aren’t as good as they seem in that nursing home,” she suggested.
A Plan
This got Ashton thinking. He didn’t know how appropriate it was to install a camera in his mother’s bedroom. But perhaps it was necessary. “If you want, I can distract your mother while you install it. It’s the only way to see what’s going on behind closed doors,” his wife, Mei, said.
He couldn’t believe it, but he was going to take his wife up on that offer. He ran out to the store and bought a camera the very next morning.
Disappointment.
Judith awoke just after 11 am, and when Ashton told her that they were going back to the nursing home, he could see the disappointment on her face. But she didn’t have to worry. Her son had a plan to help her out. Tears rolled down her cheeks as they pulled up in front of the building.
Everything seemed fine. As usual, the nurses were friendly as they walked down the halls. But one was putting on an act. What was really going on?
Installation
Once they reached Judith's room, Ashton quickly ushered his mother and Mei into the hallway under the guise of getting refreshments. He knew he had to act fast.
With adrenaline coursing through his veins, he retrieved the camera from his bag and began installing it in the fake pot plant. He had to ensure it wasn't conspicuous.
Regrets
He had no idea if this camera would be able to pick anything up. At this point, he was hopeful for any result. His mother was clearly suffering.
He thought this nursing home was one of the best that there was. But now, with all of his mother’s complaints, he was starting to regret ever bringing her here.
What Could It Be
He couldn’t even fathom what exactly was keeping his mother from having a good night’s rest. Was it bugs? Were they intentionally keeping the lights on? He didn’t know, and his mother wasn’t talking.
She wouldn’t divulge to him what the problem was. The camera was their only hope at this point. Would they be able to figure out what was going on?
Feeling Uneasy
Ashton looked around the small room that his mother had been staying in. He felt a sense of unease wash over him. His mother had been acting strangely ever since she checked into this nursing home. He was desperate to find out what was causing her so much distress.
He had already installed a hidden camera in the room, hoping to catch any clues as to what was going on. But now, with the camera in place, he felt like he had a chance to do even more for his mother.
Something Wasn’t Right
The atmosphere at the nursing home had never felt right to Ashton. He just thought that the problem was with himself, but maybe it ran much deeper than that. Ashton was adamant to look around the room. Unfortunately, he had no idea what sinister truth he was about to uncover.
As he began to search the room, he noticed that there was something off about the wallpaper. It looked like there were small tears in it as if someone had been trying to rip it down.
The Wallpaper
Was this the work of his mother? Or was it someone else? He started to fear for his mother. Unfortunately, when he started to worry, he became overprotective. He stared at the wallpaper, scrutinizing every detail, until he couldn't take it anymore. Could he really deface her room just on a hunch?
Eventually, concern was getting the better of him, and Ashton started to pull at the wallpaper. At first, it was small prods, but eventually, it turned into frenzied ripping and tearing.
Something Behind It All
He then saw what he had done. He feared that he was destroying his mother's room. But then he realized that she hated the room anyway.
After peeling a bit of the wallpaper back, it revealed something he didn't expect. Ashton put his hand to his mouth. He was in complete and utter shock. Was what he saw sinister? Or was it just negligence on the infrastructure?
A Hole
Behind the wallpaper, he saw a hole. It was no bigger than a dime, but that was plenty for spying eyes. After a lot of hesitation, he decided to peer inside. But he saw something that made his blood run cold.
It was dark, but he saw something that he didn't expect. There was the subtle hum of machinery and the flickering of LED lights.
Something In The Other Room
Something was going on in the other room, and he needed to figure out what it was. Ashton's heart raced as he stepped back from the hole in the wall.
He wondered what kind of place his mother had ended up in. Was someone spying on her? His mind raced with possibilities. He feared for his mother's life. He wasn't sure what was going on, but he knew one thing for sure.
Wouldn’t Rest Until He Found Out The Truth
He wasn't going to rest until he found out the truth about what was happening in this nursing home. Ashton was determined to unravel the truth. He knew that the camera he had set up would eventually reveal it.
However, he couldn't wait that long. He had a nagging feeling that time was running out, and he had to do something before it was too late.
Back Into The Hallway
Mei must have still been occupied with Judith, which bought him some more time to investigate. He decided to make use of this opportunity.
He would figure out where the hole in the wall led. He was almost certain that there was a corresponding room on the other side. Ashton walked back into the hallway and looked around cautiously. He had to make sure no one was lurking around.
“Storage”
The coast was clear, so he began to make his way towards the adjacent room. As he approached the door, he noticed a sign that read "storage."
However, he knew that it could have easily been a cover-up for something more sinister. He tried to pull the door open, but it was locked. "Of course it is," he muttered under his breath. Ashton was undeterred. He was determined to get inside, even if he had to resort to less-than-savory means.
A Window
He began to look around for a way in, scanning the area for any signs of weakness. Finally, he spotted a small window on the side of the room. It looked like it had been left unlocked, probably because no one expected anyone to try and break in. Without hesitation, Ashton climbed through the window, making sure to be as quiet as possible.
Once he was inside, he took a quick look around. The room was dark and cluttered, with boxes and crates stacked up everywhere.
Not Just A Storage Room
It was clear that this was not just a storage room. Ashton knew that he had stumbled onto something big, and he was determined to find out what it was. He took a deep breath, preparing himself for whatever lay ahead. He began to search the room for any clues that could help him solve the mystery.
He was doing this for his mother. He had to make sure that she was safe. As Ashton scoured the room, he noticed something concerning.
An Old Computer
In the corner of the room was an old computer sitting on a desk in the corner. It looked like it had been there for years, covered in dust and cobwebs. He approached the desk and turned on the computer. The screen flickered to life, revealing a series of files and documents.
Ashton quickly realized that he had stumbled upon a treasure trove of information. He began to sift through the files, his heart racing with anticipation. But he had no idea what he had stumbled upon.
Hidden Documents
The more he read, the more he felt sick to his stomach. He realized that something sinister was going on in this nursing home, and the staff were involved. Ashton couldn't believe what he was seeing. How could this be happening right under everyone's noses?
Ashton knew that he had to act fast. Although all of the files were vague, he could see incident reports, one of which was directed at a nurse.
Covering Things Up
An incident detailed a nurse mistreating someone of the patients. She was apparently disciplined for it, but her name was redacted. It was a very concerning find.
What were they covering up for? Had the nurse in question done something wrong? Did it have to do with his mother? Ashton couldn’t wait to review the footage of the camera he had set up if things looked this bad. But now he had to escape.
Going Back To The Room
After reading through the files, he made sure not to leave any trace of his presence. He then crept back out of the window and into the hallway.
But now, he was far too concerned to leave things as they were. He crept back into Judith's room. He wasn't done with his search just yet. He did one final sweep before he would be satisfied. Then he would be able to rest easy.
Not Finding Anything
He tried rummaging through the room to see if there was anything that he could find. There was nothing. He needed to hurry and install the camera before they returned.
He didn’t want his mother or any of the nursing staff to see what he was doing. Time was of the essence. All they had to do now was wait.
Feeling Sorry For Her
Ashton sat down on his mother’s bed. He felt so sorry for her, and all he wanted was for her to feel better. She just wasn’t herself anymore, and he longed for the mother who was once jubilant and fun-loving.
Right now, she was a shell of the woman she once was, and he didn’t like it one bit.
Concern
Ashton couldn’t understand what was going on with his mother. For weeks, she had been refusing to sleep in her bedroom. Whatever was going on was taking a toll on the old woman. That was why he decided to plant the camera in the first place.
But when Ashton finally got to plant the camera, he witnessed something truly worrying. He couldn’t let the staff at the nursing home get away with it.
Acting Fast
Judith and Mei left the room, and Ashton reached into his wife’s bag and retrieved the small camera. He had to act fast. Fumbling with the box to get the camera out, he looked for the best place to install it. That was when he saw the fake pot plant his mother had owned for years.
He rushed toward it, planting the camera expertly. But just as he thought he’d gotten away with it, he heard the door open behind him. But he was not ready for what was about to happen.
A Nurse
As soon as the door swung open, Ashton threw himself to the ground, hiding behind his mother’s bed. He expected to hear her voice, but he didn’t. “Okay, let’s get this over with,” he heard a woman mutter to herself. He peeked over the bed, spotting one of the nurses. But she did the unthinkable.
The woman had a box full of large, sharp rocks in her hand. He watched as she lifted the mattress off the bed, revealing hundreds of rocks under the mattress.
Shock and Horror
Ashton’s heart raced as he watched in horror. Why would the nurse put sharp rocks under his mother's mattress? What was her intention?
He wanted to leap out from his hiding spot and confront her, but he knew he had to gather evidence first. He focused on staying hidden while keeping a keen eye on the nurse's actions.
Why?
The nurse meticulously placed the rocks under the mattress, her expression unreadable. Ashton’s mind raced with questions, but one thing was clear: his mother's safety was compromised.
Why was she doing this? His mother was old and frail. Weren’t they supposed to be taking care of the elderly? This was the complete opposite. What was he going to do?
Betrayal and Anger
As the nurse finished her sinister task and exited the room, Ashton remained frozen in shock. His hands trembled as he reached for the camera, his mind swirling with a mix of betrayal and anger.
How could someone entrusted with caring for the elderly resort to such cruelty? What had his mother done to deserve this mistreatment?
Everything In His Power
With a heavy heart, Ashton knew he had to confront the nursing home authorities with the evidence he had captured. But first, he needed to ensure his mother's safety.
This was beyond criminal. His mother was in real danger from this place. He needed to know if anyone knew what this nurse was doing, but he was going to do everything in his power to make sure everyone knew what was going on there.
Ready To Unleash Hell
The nurse was relentless. She was purposely making sure that Ashton’s poor mother would be in pain. This was unacceptable. He was paying a fortune for his mother to be there, and this was the treatment she was getting.
Ashton was ready to unleash hell. There was no way that he was going to let this ever happen to his mother or anyone else again.
The Truth
Ashton watched with wide eyes as she placed more beneath the mattress. Why was she doing this? But then, she muttered something. “This lady thinks she can replace Mr. Bennet. I won’t let her.” Suddenly, Ashton understood what was going on.
The nurse was making her room uncomfortable because she felt like Judith had replaced the old man who lived there before her. He had to do something.
Confrontation
Ashton's blood boiled with fury as he realized the nurse's twisted motivation. She was punishing his mother for simply being a resident in Mr. Bennet's former room. Summoning all his courage, Ashton emerged from his hiding spot, confronting the nurse with a stern voice, "What do you think you're doing?"
The nurse jumped, clearly startled by Ashton's sudden appearance. She stammered, attempting to come up with an excuse, but Ashton wasn't having any of it. "You put sharp rocks under my mother's mattress? What kind of sick game are you playing?" Ashton's voice trembled with rage as he stepped closer to the nurse, his fists clenched.
Denial and Panic
The nurse's face paled, and her eyes darted around nervously. "I-I don't know what you're talking about. I was just..." she trailed off, unable to formulate a coherent response. But Ashton wasn't buying her lies. He could see the panic in her eyes, and it only fueled his determination to expose her actions.
"You were just what? Trying to injure an elderly woman?" Ashton's voice rose with each word, his anger bubbling to the surface.
Rescue Mission
With a sense of urgency, Ashton quickly retrieved his mother's belongings while Mei kept a lookout for any sign of the nurse's return. Ashton gently helped his mother to her feet, her frail frame trembling with exhaustion and fear. "We're getting you out of here, Mom," he whispered, his voice filled with determination.
Together, they hurried out of the room, Ashton casting a wary glance around the hallway, half-expecting the nurse to appear at any moment.
Escape
As they made their way towards the exit, Ashton couldn't shake the feeling of unease that gnawed at his gut. They needed to leave this place behind, far away from the cruel nurse and the dangers she posed.
With each step they took towards freedom, Ashton's resolve hardened. He would do whatever it took to ensure his mother's safety and bring justice to those responsible for her suffering. As they finally stepped out into the fresh air, Ashton breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that they had escaped the nightmare that was the nursing home.
Revelations
Once they were safely away from the nursing home, Ashton and Mei sat down with Judith, ready to hear her side of the story. Ashton's heart broke as his mother recounted the torment she had endured at the hands of the nurse, from the sleepless nights to the deliberate acts of cruelty.
But amidst the pain and suffering, there was a glimmer of hope. With the evidence captured by the hidden camera, they had the power to expose the truth and hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
Calling 911
The nurse couldn’t believe her eyes when he popped up from behind the bed. No wonder his mother looked so awful. She was in pain and couldn’t sleep.
“I’m calling 911, and I have it all on camera!” he revealed. He did as promised, and the police and an ambulance were there in no time. The police and her employer confronted the nurse while the ambulance took Judith for a check-up.
She Was Okay
Ashton couldn’t believe what the terrible nurse had done to his mother. She was fine after a few days in the hospital. They had treated her for severe exhaustion. When she got out, she insisted on returning to the nursing home. “They fired her. I will be fine,” she said.
Ashton did as his mother requested and took her back. From that moment on, she flourished in her new environment. In the end, she was okay.
